Helena is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Community Studies, working on a range of projects. She is interested in using diverse and innovative research methods, working with communities to encompass different perspectives and highlight social challenges and strengths.
Prior to joining the ICS, Helena’s PhD research at the UCL Department of Information Studies explored the relationship between reading fiction and critical thinking, arguing for access to diverse reading materials for all. She also coordinated a shared UCL and British Academy public policy project on AI and the future of work, and remains interested in the impacts of technology on our everyday lives. She has also been a research methods lecturer and librarian, and loves supporting the research endeavours of others. Helena is passionate about her research having a real impact on people’s lives.
