Caroline joined the Institute for Community Studies as a Research Associate in July 2020 and has been working on projects related to ‘What Works’ to strengthen communities, methods for community engagement, and homeless healthcare. Caroline holds an MA in Sociology with Quantitative Methods from the University of Edinburgh, where she gained a strong grasp of social theory and research methods. Her dissertation focused on the gender politics of film, and she is particularly interested in how digital spaces are changing the way people connect, communicate, and curate their identities.
With the ICS, Caroline aims to develop better practices for incorporating digital spaces into social and community research. Prior to joining the ICS, Caroline worked at a public relations firm in New York City, gaining experience in corporate communications, media relations, and event planning for clients around the globe. She has also interned with ScotCen Social Research, where she assisted with data analysis and questionnaire development on some of the Scotland’s largest national surveys.
